CE Overview
European Community Conformity
A manufacturer wishing to distribute or sell a product within Europe must declare that the product conforms to the applicable EU Directives, or go through the conformity assessment procedure of the relevant Notified Body, and affix the CE mark to the product. The CE mark does not signify a guarantee of quality, but rather that the product satisfies all the requirements of the European standards related to safety, health, environment, and consumer protection — that is, the relevant EU Council Directives. Once the CE mark is affixed, the product can be freely distributed within the EU.
